All Right all you Super Bowl fans, today is the big day; Pittsburg is going down. Jerome Bettis is just going to have to retire without one of those big nuggets on his finger. I'm not particulary a SeaHawks fan, but do happen think QB Matt Hasselbeck has what it takes to win the Super Bowl - besides, he is kinda cute! Yes, I know I'm such a girl.
What would Super Bowl Sunday be without the great commercials and the good eats. I honestly don't think my boys could care less about who wins, except maybe Mikey. All they want is the Buffalo Wings I make every time a football game comes on. This recipe comes from one of my favorite web-sites called Top Secret Receipes . It's pretty close to Outback Steakhouse Kookaburra Wings. I usually quadruple the receipe because it's just not enough to feed my family. The recipe is never the same everytime I make it. I start out with the base recipe, but usually end up adding whatever sounds good at the time.
Ingredients:
- 2 T. all-purpose flour
- 1 T. Kraft Macaroni & Cheese topping (powder that comes in the packet)
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp. Paprika
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp. ground Cumin
- dash of ground cloves
Mix ingredients together in a large plastic container (something with a lid) The wings should be pretty dry before placing them in the bowl. It will make the mix turn gummy if they are too wet. Place about six wings in the mix. After securing the lid on tight, shake to coat the wings. Place the coated wings on a cookie sheet and chill for at least an hour before deep frying. I cook my wings in a deep fryer on 360 degrees for about 4 minutes each batch. Make sure you let the oil heat back up to 360 degrees after each batch. The wings won't cook right unless you do. The kids like the wings served with Ranch dressing, I prefere Blu Cheese mixed with Durke's buffalo wing sauce for dipping. I also cut celery and carrot sticks to help cut the spiceyness. I hope you all enjoy this time honored tradition, not just to cheer on the teams, but to spend time creating happy memories with your family. Go SeaHawks!!!
